Meet “Teddy the Turtle,” Central Broward Water Control District’s mascot!

He was born in May 2000, after students from Cooper City Elementary School helped the District come up with a name for its mascot. Turtles live a long time and Teddy is no exception. Teddy makes guest appearances at local schools and community events, throughout the District. Plus, his picture is featured on signs posted at several of the District’s secondary canals.

Have you seen him, yet?

While it is a lot of fun seeing this friendly fellow make his rounds and bring smiles to the faces of our citizens, he plays a very important role at the District. Teddy helps get the message out of the many things each of us can do to help improve the quality of our water resources and protect the Everglades watershed, which is where we live.
