Everglade Eyes

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Everglades Eyes 2020 and 2021 was cancelled.

Everglades eyes is an annual Earth Day Celebration featuring art of what children see in the Everglades. In the early years of the District’s outreach program, classroom presentations were developed and provided to fourth and fifth grade students, featuring what a wetland is and specifically about the “Everglades.” As a result, the students sent letters and art to say thank you for the presentations. The quality of the artwork was so impressive, the Outreach department was inspired to create an art event to celebrate Earth Day (April 22nd.) Thus, Everglades Eyes was born! Since then, each year has been a delightful gathering of students, teachers, family and friends at Old Davie School Historical Museum, for an awards ceremony followed by a month-long exhibition of the art.
